Just watched Tower Heist, a 2011 movie about a bunch of hotel workers who were swindled out of their pension and seek their own justice. Not the *best* of heist movies but still moderately satisfying with a few great moments and lines, reasonably well-executed
My theory is that a good heist story is all about the characters. Who are they before, during, and after? What do they learn? What tough decisions are they forced to make? How do they change? Most good storytelling is about the story of characters growing, changing, learning
Oh apparently this scene was a reference to Ferris Bueller 😂 Guess I gotta watch that sometime. Movie could’ve been made significantly better by helping the audience care more about the characters - a few small additional scenes showing their motivations and personal struggles
