As many of you know, I am a supporter of @homesforourtrps, a nonprofit that builds specially-adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans nationwide.

As a Philly native, the story of Army CPL Kevin McCloskey inspired me to tweet this thread to ask for help --
2/ Kevin McCloskey grew up in Tacony, PA and joined the military when he was 18. At the age of 20, driving in a convoy with the 506th Infantry Regiment (4th Brigade), 101st Airborne Division, in Logar Province, Afghanistan, his vehicle hit an IED and he lost both his legs.
3/ When Kevin returned home to Philly, he received a hero's welcome. He still remembers the day vividly and knows the people of our great city were ready and willing to help him.
4/ Kevin also reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Bridget, when he came home. The two fell in love and got engaged under the boardwalk -- the same place they shared their first kiss in 5th grade
5/ More good news -- in 2015, Kevin and Bridget found out that they would be receiving a mortgage free specially adapted home from the nonprofit @HomesForOurTrps.
6/ The home, adapted to suit Kevin’s needs, has been under construction for quite awhile because of various delays and weather. The process has been long, but they've remained positive. They continue to tend bar in the Philly suburbs.
7/ During this loooooooong process, Kevin and Bridget have been living in a non-adapted home. The long wait has depleted their savings. Savings that they were planning on using to buy new furniture for their new home.
8/ You may wonder what you can do to help this couple. I would like to extend an invitation to the people of Philadelphia to help Kevin and Bridget make this house, which is almost done, into a HOME.
