For a long time Canada had no Parl oversight on national security file. MPs did not have the serious security clearances that were needed. This put us offside from how allies do things and created serious issues regarding transparency and accountability in a democracy #cdnpoli
Those who advocated for more security intelligence oversight said a committee of Parliamentarians was key - being able to ask questions and monitor key issues. Detractors said it's a bad idea because MPs aren't used to dealing with sensitive information #cdnpoli

You want to mourn #suicide? Mourn this. In 2013, the US Department of Veterans Affairs released a study that covered suicides from 1999 to 2010: roughly 22 veterans were dying by suicide per day, or one every 65 minutes. Some suggest that this rate may be undercounting suicides.
