A lady in an FB group has posted this photo of a Muslim gathering that she watched from the balcony of her apartment in Bengaluru. On loudspeakers they talked for 5 hrs about wrongs Muslims hv faced in Kashmir, Godhra, Babri, Bulandshahar, Triple Talaq etc. (1)
The gathering ended with a call: "If you want to save Islam, Quran, and Muslims then you have to stop Modi otherwise you will go to hell." This was followed by chants of "Narendra Modi Murdabad". (2)
When the lady expressed discomfort in her community WhatsApp, she was asked to maintain tolerance and respect for the secular fabric of India. She says the Hindus in her Bommanahalli apartment were silent as though they had not heard or seen anything. (3)

I support BJP simply because I don't see it as anti-India. It might have corrupt, power-hungry members, it might have arrogant, stupid, members but I still don't see any of them going to terrorist-sponsor Pakistan and asking it to help in dislodging an elected PM (1)
I don't see BJP running down ancient Indian traditions or sacrifices of the Indian Army. Away from media glare, there is a great deal of good happening in government-run institutions ever since a Modi-led BJP government came to power. (2)
There are some excellent ministers in the PM's cabinet. The energy which has been infused in Indians in far-off lands just by Modi becoming PM must not be under-projected. (3)

In #Dhar, MP is a Sarasvati Temple built by Raja Bhoja in the 11th century which was converted to a mosque by Muslim rulers. Called #Bhojshala, it's one of the few temples devoted exclusively to Sarasvati. After Independence the temple could easily hv been handed to Hindus (1)
Instead, in a weird arrangement Muslims take over the temple on Fridays to offer namaz while Hindus bring a framed picture of Sarasvati to worship on Tuesdays. The Muslims hold other festivals too. Hindus have been prevented from holding Vasant Panchami congregations here. (2)
My heart sank at the sight of the Muslim Dargah built near the entrance of the temple and looking completely out of place. There is a tomb of some Sufi Maulana in the Dargah. (3)

1/ Yesterday, I attended a forum hosted for the #Muslim community by some of its biggest and most developed organizations (@emgageactionmi, @MIMuslimCouncil, @APIAVoteMI).

AND I WAS THE ONLY DEMOCRAT WHO SHOWED UP.
2/ In the week of the travel ban, and the week where @ocasio2018 obliterated a 20-year incumbent by listening to & speaking with communities of color, you’d think establishment Dems like @gretchenwhitmer would have learned a lesson. IGNORE COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AT YOUR OWN PERIL.
3/ I know for a fact that @gretchenwhitmer showed up for a Muslim community fundraiser a few weeks ago. But she didn’t show up to hear the community’s concerns and share her perspective at a forum hosted for us by Muslim leaders.

Don’t take the money if you don’t want the vote.

Watched Rafizi’s video that’s been circulating today. Cried when mentioned about how the Indians don’t hv to worry giving up education after standard 6. Teared up. Why ?
When I was in Standard 6, I was paired with Vanitha for an alam dan manusia project. We planted a chili tree and had to tend to it from time to time.
Every break time we would go to our pokok cili together. One day she told me her father doesn’t want her to continue secondary school. Too much money and he’d rather send her younger brother to school.

I was all like, “but this is your education.”
