@ruskin147 It's junk. Wasteful junk. What a miserable use of human effort.
@ruskin147 My point can be made with two numbers:

1 Crossrail tunnel can carry 36000pax/hr.
1 Boring tunnel... 500pax/hr at best?

As ever, it's all about capacity.
@ruskin147 To put it another way, Musk's shoddily-built tunnel will have to carry over EIGHT VEHICLES PER SECOND to match the capacity of an underground railway. No chance.
@ruskin147 I've just done some quick sums and, given Musk's quoted speed of 150mph, the MAXIMUM capacity his daft system can have is 60pax/hr/direction.

You'd need 630 tunnels to match the capacity of one Crossrail tunnel **drops mic**
@ruskin147 Even if you ran this thing like a conveyor belt with cars nose-to-tail, it couldn't have a capacity greater than 6600p/h/d. That's with a car passing every second, which is plainly fantasy.

And that's before we look at the fiddly bits like the access "lifts" and junctions.
@ruskin147 Anyway, here's a less chaotic thread looking at Musk's capacity claims in more detail:
