Very serious question: Are there AWS services that you think are missing? What new infrastructure, security, or data service would you most like to see us build? Here's why I'm asking ...
Every 5 years or so I look around and try to pick an area to work on, and then commit and persist. 10 years ago it was to build our edge: CloudFront, Route 53, and anti-DDOS. 5 years ago I moved to ELB and ended up building VPC Networking, HyperPlane, TLS, Cryptograpy and more ..
Time for another look around! I have some ideas myself already, mostly crazy, I'm curious about thoughts and suggestions from folks here.

Rare evening technical thread: about distributed systems, exponential backoff, and the tragedy of the commons problem.
Let's say you're running some kind of service that clients call, and it has an "availability event" ... which is, you know, PR speak for "outage". Anyway, so you have this event and you fix the problem, but that doesn't always mean that you recover right away.
Often your clients will have started to retry their requests. Clients build up over over time, more and more of them. You can easily get into a situation where you now have way more requests than you ever ordinarily would. And this just as you are trying to recover. Uggh.

Mini-Thread: We've just launched TLS/SSL support for AWS Network Load Balancers. You can now use NLB to terminate TLS/SSL directly and still get the great performance, scalability, and insane magic of network transparency! See @jeffbarr's post at aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/new-…
Quick reminder: NLB is our "Layer 4" load balancing offering. It's integrated directly into the Software Defined Networking fabric of Amazon VPC, which means it can scale to terabits of traffic, millions of new connections per second, hundreds of millions of active connections.
It also means that NLB is transparent. When you put targets behind an NLB, those targets still see the original source IP/port of the client. That means no need to use X-Forwarded-For, or Proxy Protocol, or to reconfigure your logging or on-host security rules.

I think of this speech often. In many ways it was Eisenhower repeating himself, his "Chance for Peace" speech came in 1953, 8 years before this. Amazing and consistent bookends.

Here is my analysis of the teaser:

Based on this, here is a theory that I have formulated.
The teaser starts off with a picture of the #SuperBloodWolfMoon. Blood = Red = #KimLip; Wolf = #OliviaHye.
There is a strong connection between the two.
There is a also the audio of a #VHS tape being inserted behind this.

I’m interested in how #Infrastructure transforms places. The village of Ore (“a collection of motley huts”) ’blew’ because someone decided, in the 1970s or so, that the new major Highway linking Lagos/Ibadan to Benin would pass through it. (The Old Road passed elsewhere)
The Old Road to Benin: Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha-Akure-Owo-Agbanikaka-Benin.

Then a new one was built: Sagamu-Ore-Ofosu-Benin Expressway.

That’s how Ore landed the chance to become a Transport and Commerce hub.

Time and Chance. But #Infrastructure made it possible.
In my traveling around Nigeria following ongoing Infrastructure projects - I can’t help imagining just how much things will change in the years ahead. Nigeria’s landscape will be redrawn in fascinating ways. New hubs will ‘blow’, new habits will follow new infrastructure.

Many Finnish gov sites and e services are currently down. Including many ministries, police and customs.

Reason currently unknown, all possibilities from tech breakdown to hacking remain open.

Valtori (ICT services for the central government) CEO Lehmus says it's distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. Started approx 16.30 local time targeting Valtori. Says that currently it's beaten, services are being restored.

As Government and RBI now endorsed that there is a #CashCrunch, many theories are floating in the air about the reasons for the same.

So let me float my own theory and examine some of the theories too!
One of the theory is that there is an unprecedented spur in withdrawal of the money from the banks. Also people refuse to deposit money in the banks.

Many factors are attributed for this theory; starting from the scary FDRI bill to Chota Modi Scams to Minimum balance looting..
First examine, whether there is an unprecedented withdrawal from the banks for the last couple of months?

Let's see RBI data on withdrawal of currency through ATMs,, we have published data up to Feb 2018.

Do you see any spur here?
