X : When you use knowledge on a Wardley Map, do you always use those same stages of evolution?
Me : Yes, and the cheat sheet. I spent years trying to be more precise but got nowhere. So eventually, fell back on the basic stages in 2013 but with different terms.
Hence, when mapping knowledge I could use a slightly different axis and then we can discuss what is built upon what, what stage are things at etc. Same patterns of evolution, inertia etc apply
However, in practice I don't do this. I just keep a single axis (for activities) as representative of all the different evolving forms of capital. This is because I'll often have different forms of capital on a single map.
It doesn't matter whether it's activities, practices, data or knowledge ... to me, it's all capital that evolves through supply and demand competition. We just used different terms to describe different stages of evolution.
X : I use experimental, diverging, converging and commodity.
Me : Sounds reasonable. I use activities because of habit. You can mix and match as you wish e.g. concept, divergent, convergent, accepted sounds reasonable. It's all stage I to IV and the cheat sheet is the guide.
