Thinking about the protests and two other things I saw on here last week:
1) huge marches didn’t prevent Iraq War;
2) Do we know what would satisfy the protesters?
(plus, of course, the French Revolution)

3/ Iraq (or Brexit) marches are not good analogies, I think. Those were attempts to sway small group of national lawmakers, get them to NOT do something planned. When invasion/Brexit happened anyway, protests had “failed.”

First a bit of history...
Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin (ATAC-Seq) was originally published in in 2013 (@naturemethods PMID: 24097267) by @JD_Buenrostro in the labs of H. Chang and W. Greenleaf at @Stanford.

ATAC-Seq is a VERY efficient technique, and was quickly implemented at #singlecell level in 2015 by the same team (@nature PMID: 26083756). These are good reads and help understand why this method is so revolutionary.
I've been reading about @MarzGurl and this new drama and I have thoughts. Typically, when a group member does something bad or in violation of group norms, the Black Sheep Effect says that the group turns on them. Yet when that member is an exemplar or leader this might (1/14)
not happen. The leaders or exemplars of the group or those perceived to be in part set what is acceptable but also shape aspects of the individual's identity. What may be going on in the case of fans rallying against a scapegoat for their own dissonance and...(2)
With the potential of having to admit that a paragon, an exemplar of their group, or someone so closely tied to ones specific group of interest has been alleged to have done some terrible things is tied to the need to reduce that negative emotion.(3)
