Anybody know what this is/was?
Here's more footage of the same. They say a transformer exploded in Astoria, Queens, NYC.
Yup. It's confirmed now. A Con Edison transformer exploded. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Despite earlier reports, there was no actual fire at the substation in Astoria, Queens, NYC, the other night.

“The illumination was caused just by the arc flash. Once the electrical source removed, the arc flash subsided,” a spokesman for Con Edison said.

1. "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch"
It is the most hopelessly useless piece of crap in the Netflix series. The inability to fast forward or rewind is annoying as hell, and the interactive decision points are patronizing garbage.
2. I abandoned the sorry episode after about 40 minutes as I found it more boring than filling a form in a physician's office. If this is the entertainment of the future, I would much rather take up darning socks for amusement.
3. Could my dislike of this episode have something to do with the fact that I have zero interest in video games? Having engineered and implemented numerous mission critical software systems worldwide, I find it boring to match wits with mundane software programs.

Only in rabid socialist imaginations anything is free.
-- Public schooling isn't free. People pay through their noses for it in property taxes.
-- Social Security isn't free. It's people's own money taken and returned by govt.
-- VA isn't free. People pay for it through taxes.
As for the cutesy "free of cost at the point of service" goes, all consumer purchases all across the world are also "free of cost at the point of service" when people pay with a credit card. But only the dumbest of the dumb think "free at point of service" is free of cost.
And when the federal govt is running a trillion dollar deficit every year since 2009 (and don't you dare blame tax cuts because revenue went UP because of the tax cuts; deficits are caused by run-away spending), your credit card bills will have to be paid by future generations.

1. 2016 Election: A Liberal Paradox (in a few short tweets)
As you know, I respect and value all voters, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and others alike. I don't have the same view of party leaders though, and I loathe liberal mainstream media partisanship.
2. Now I believe "Russia Interference!" is a cruel hoax played by MSM and Democratic leadership on unsuspecting Democrat voters. Because if it isn't, then it creates a mother of all paradoxes for the Democratic base. Let me explain how.
3. Democratic base has been led to believe:
a) Trump won because ignorant American heartland yahoos voted for him, i.e. Republican voters are dumb, Democratic voters are smart.
b) Thousands of Dem voters were influenced by Russian trolls into voting for Trump or Green Party.

Over the last week, protests have erupted across #Sudan, with NISS intelligence service stations being burnt and reports of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) defending protestors in some locations. This is a developing thread for remotely monitoring the situation, h/t @trevorsnapp.
In Atbara, for example, protesters have set fire to the headquarters of ruling the National Congress Party, led by President Omar al-Bashir. There's plenty of visual evidence of the unrest, such as this video. Geolocation: 17.694190, 34.001319 (google.com/maps/place/17%…).

Tonight, Jews at a prayer vigil in Chapel Hill were charged at by a man in a Trump 2020 hat who was non-stop screaming anti-Semitic abuse. Chapel Hill Police seized one of the Jewish folks the man charged into and then charged the *Jewish* person with assault. 1/2
Chapel Hill Police arrested students after they were assaulted by neo-confederates earlier this fall at UNC, and now they’re charging a Jewish person after an anti-Semite charged into a Jewish prayer vigil. Police are the front line of white supremacist violence & oppression. 2/2
We didn’t get video of the charge because it happened suddenly but here’s footage from earlier in the evening of the man who eventually charged the vigil. He continued in this vein for the next 20-30 minutes before finally charging the circle of prayer service attendees.
