The 50s were a different time weren't they?
There is absolutely nothing funny about this
Actually now that I've read a story where an invisible man goes round hitting children to provoke them into fighting each other *and is lauded as the hero*, I understand the generation brought up on these books a bit better
Anyway thanks to modern day political correctness, kids these days aren't allowed to read these wholesome tales of *checks notes* an invisible man taking clothes off petrified boys in the woods
The common theme in all these stories, it seems, isn't mere revenge but the need to humiliate as well. Rather than be good, you must show the bad guy you are capable of worse. Some morality fable
Anyway it wasn't as if an entire generation was brought up on these books while having imperial nostalgia and a nagging sense of betrayal drilled into them at the same time or anything
