One thing I'd like to say about reporting in 2018 and I speak only for myself here:
If I was a reporter in the same capacity today during the Obama administration, I would have questioned, critiqued and demanded high standards as I do with Trump.

If Obama would have handled himself on Twitter as Trump does today, I would react and respond and report the same way.
I dont change my reporting based on the political party in power. And when this administration ends and another begins...

Should it be a Dem or Republican in office in 2020, if anything were to change for me it would be this: I will demand even HIGHER standards of performance from them, ask even more questions of them and expose the hypocrisies and falsehoods with greater fervor. But why?

Because I genuinely believe that any administration that comes after this deserves (at least) the same or an increased level of scrutiny. Let us learn from our mistakes and remember that resting on our laurels can lead to negative outcomes for ppl of all walks of life.

A democracy is a living breathing thing and requires our time and attention. I'm grateful my career allows me the luxury to focus on this and little else but I want it to be abundantly clear: no subject gets special treatment from me. No person. No party. Not now or ever.

Lastly, I dont need thanks for this mindset nor does this approach make me special. This approach makes me a reporter And that's all I need. That's all that matters to me at the end of the day: can I rest my head at night knowing I did the best and most fair job I could.
