For every political foe you hate, know that their bad behavior is something you are capable of exhibiting, and in fact you probably have behaved that way before on some small level. Do you hate their callousness?

You too, like all of us, have had your moments of callousness.
And as you both have the capacity to be callous, you also both have the capacity to be benevolent and gracious.

It is not enough for you to deride your foe for being callous. You must be the model for benevolence and graciousness.
It is not enough for you to correct or ridicule your foe. You must also show him the way.

It is not enough to tell him he is being bad. You must also show him what it means to be good.
