Guys: they *always* find something. Ffs they rallied behind a made-up process foul to ignore the fact that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted Ford. We can’t live in fear of the counterargument they’ll make, because they’ll always find some bullshit and make reporters believe they care.
They invented the fucking “Biden rule” to block Garland & reporters bought that. They pretended they cared about amendments and open process & reporters bought that. They pretended that Obama not golfing with them was why they wouldn’t work with him & reporters bought that.
If you live in fear that Republicans will attack you for saying what you believe, you’ve already lost.

Just say what you believe.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised how many people agree with you and will back you up.

And you’ll sleep well at night.

This. It also shows why we need to abolish the 60-vote threshold on day one if/when we take back the Senate. We won’t have anywhere close to 60 votes soon (or ever), McConnell will obstruct & workarounds like reconciliation leave legislation super vulnerable to legal challenges.
The 60-vote threshold is not an original feature of the Senate. The Founders created the Senate as a majority-rule body. They'd hate what it is now. The modern 60-vote threshold is a mutation of a rule passed in 1917. And it can be undone with a majority.
Legit reservation but not likely in practice. Passing laws is hard, even if the threshold is just a majority! Reversals like what you describe would probably only happen if unified control of all branches switched back and forth from election to election.

I'm a sociologist who studies adolescent sexual violence. On this thread, I will be live tweeting the #Kavanaugh hearing, chiming in with sociological insights and research findings.
Full disclosure--I will probably step away for parts of it. While many conservatives have cast feminists as people who rejoice at allegations of sexual assault against powerful men, this is a painful process for us. We know survivors. We are survivors. And I will need breaks.
It does not bode well that the beginning of this hearing is starting with equating #Kavanaugh and #Ford's experiences with harassment following Dr. Ford's allegations. They are absolutely not the same.

#Fact 1 - The Wage Gap is real. People who says it's not haven't read the data.

However, in places like the USA, the wage gap is *not* mostly due to sexism like many #femnist #WomenInScience are claiming it is today. Disparate outcomes doesn't imply disparate treatment.
Women typically choose fields that are lower paying; even in the #STEM fields. To attribute that to sexism only or even mostly is a very dishonest way of deriving an answer for this complex disparity.
