Louis CK is a good reminder that when people with power ask for respect it’s called “civility” and is sacred, but when people without power ask for respect it’s called “political correctness” and is the butt of jokes.
My favorite part of this is when people like Kurt pretend that criticism and accountability of people like Louis CK are attempts to silence them.
No, fascism is when people who have power gin up fear among other people who also have power against people who don’t have as much power.
Here’s another classic. What Louis CK is doing is bullying - but no one wants to defend bullying, so they invent the term “word-policing” to disguise a defense of bullying as something more noble. But it’s not. Louis CK is a bully, pure & simple.
My point stands. It’s bullying when people with power punch down at people with less power. I understand that the conservative worldview is premised upon pretending these entrenched power dynamics don’t exist. But that doesn’t change the fact that they do.
The people on this website confidently informing me that entrenched power dynamics do not exist in America have something in common (besides working for the Daily Caller) but I can’t quite put my finger on it...
