Lakshmi Narasimha temple in lower Ahobilam is a sculptural beauty.
The present temple is built in 15th century by Vijayanagar rulers & later expanded by Kakatiya kings, mainly Pratapa Rudra.
Temple and carving on outer walls.
The deity here is said to be installed by Venkateswara Swamy as he wanted to take the blessings of Narasimha Deva before marrying Padmavati Devi. The Koneru or pushkarini of the temple. The dwajastambham in the outer prakara.
The temple in the inner prakaram has exquisitely carved pillars. Pillars carved in each pillar. A sight to behold.
Varaha Narsimha with Lakshmi Devi on his lap, Narasimha with Lakshmi Devi again on his lap and the third is Narasimha Deva tearing apart Hiranyakashipu.
Beautiful work on pillars.
The deity of Lakshmi Narasimha is in a Shanta roopa. He is seen to be blessing Prahlad, hence this temple is also called Prahlada Varada Narasimha.
The Ranga Mandapam, with the beautiful pillars all around.
The Mukhamandapam.
The Kalyanam of Narasimha Deva during auspicious occasions are performed here.
Carved pillars
The temple was being closed for the afternoon, so before I could be sent out, I didn't stop to admire each pillar, but clicked as many pics as I could, to admire later.
I was in bliss mode clicking away to my heart's content, in the precious little time I had.
I am the last one out and the door closes. Took pics of the outer wall of the inner prakaram.
This Mandapam is beside the entrance to the inner prakaram.
The beautiful gopuram. Personally I felt that if the gopuram was painted colourfully like some temples of TN, all the beautiful sculpture will be clearly visible.

Carving on the wall beside the door of the inner prakaram.
Then we had annadanam prasadam of the temple and then went to see the other 2 Narasimha temples on our list in lower Ahobilam.
I felt blessed to have had the wonderful darshan and a chance to click pictures without a crowd in the way.
Deva's blessings. 🙏
