1) Why does that matter? The Russian tax fraud uncovered by Magnitsky/Browder has been thoroughly investigated/documented by governments, independent journalists, human-rights groups; it is the basis for Magnitsky laws in US/Canada/Britain, passed on sweeping bipartisan bases;
2) it was the foundation of a years-long DOJ investigation into money laundering involving Prevezon, and other investigations that continue into entities that laundered the illicit funds. All this evidence is just... wrong?
3) Magnitsky Act has been exceptionally painful for bad actors in the Putin regime, since it targets individuals. It is exceptionally hated in Putin circles, and one response has been to destroy the reputations of those who brought it to light...
4.. including even staging a show trial for a posthumous conviction of Magnitsky. So yes, count me skeptical of many claims about the whistleblowers.
