So... let’s get this straight. After advocating for a “big beautiful” concrete wall between the U.S and Mexico 🇲🇽 AND that Mexico would PAY FOR IT, @realDonaldTrump (aided by a complicit @senatemajldr) shuts the government down. #WhereAreThePesos (1)
Why is Trump insisting on his boondoggle of a wall? His “wall” initially was a campaign device to help him remember to speak about immigration on the campaign trail. His rallies were filled with chants of “build the wall” and “Mexico will pay for it”. #WhereAreThePesos (2)
So @realDonaldTrump is willing to disrupt the lives of 800,000 Federal employees (including the Coast Guard, @FBI, TSA, and Air Traffic Control) for a bogus ineffective wall that was a campaign prop. He’s even willing to declare a “National Emergency” to skirt funding. Why? (3)
Trump/McConnell will say it is for national security. Is it? Drugs come through official points of entry or by air. Terrorists come through the Canadian border or by air. No. This insistence on a “Mexican” wall of fueled by two factors. The 1st is obvious. Racial fear/bigotry (4)
The 2nd is not as obvious but even more compelling. The main goal is chaos. Economic chaos, political civil war, mass disruption. Who benefits from mass chaos in the American economy and way of life. Who benefits from American racial strife? Who put Trump in office? Putin. (5)
Yes, the only one who benefits from this American meltdown caused by @realDonaldTrump is @KremlinRussia_E Putin. This is why Trump is in no hurry to end the #TrumpShutdown. Putin is free to attack Ukraine, do war games with Iran, take over Syria, & befriend Saudi butcher MBS (6)
Without a strong America, International relations are in peril. NATO partnerships, trade relationships and longstanding American alliances with Canada, Germany, France and Great Britain are threatened. All for the benefit of Putin (7)
In summary, this @realDonaldTrump wall controversy has far reaching consequences for the future of the United States. It is imperative that patriotic Republicans join with Democrats to stop the authoritarian attempt to destroy our country by Trump, Pence & their confederates (8)
