Centre-backs at the top 6 teams in the premier league:-

- Only includes players who have played 630+ minutes (7 games)
- Size = Minutes Played
- Colour = Team
Redone as it cut Gomez name first time despite being told to always show.

Also just to add, saying someone is better/worse based on a couple of metrics would be wrong. But you absolutely want your CBs as high up & to the right as possible here. Losing duels is never a positive.
You want to look at stuff like how much someone is dribbled past, giving the ball away in their own half, getting caught in possession, mistakes leading to shots as well as team metrics when involved... because you are part of a defensive unit & teamwork + communication are vital
@VirgilvDijk probably won't see this but it would be cool if he did.

This is what a dominant centre half should look like on a graph.
I always say we often don't know how much someone's shit stinks until we live with them. So I wanted to highlight Lovren on this. We don't watch every minute of every centre back so perhaps he is better at dealing with his personal duels than most.
Which is perhaps why Klopp likes him?

He sees it as someone who can be relied upon to deal with most threats but has occasional concentration issues (as he put it) is better than someone who struggles in duels but doesn't make those mistakes.
Oh and Sol Bamba is around John Stones on the chart. Incase ESPN UK were wondering...
Ground Duels only.
Aerial Duels Only
🇪🇸 La Liga Centre Backs

- Top 6 La Liga sides only at time of data (11/01/19)
- Time Played 630 minutes (I included Lucas Hernandez at 576 too).
Just to add, I am only looking at the top 6 as there is quite a bit of manual work involved in manually looking up who has played CB for each team and then adding them.

Once we finish tidying our data, I can probably produce things like this a lot easier and can do more with it.

Interesting to see Orban here. I tipped him and Manolas as the most VVD-like players out there when we apologised to Soton and pulled out of the deal.
