“Of course, the rescuing of oppressed people is a Western narrative in many different ways...” It’s obvious reporter @shanifanasser sought out activists with her worldview. What evidence is provided that “many” on the far-right advocated for Rahaf? None.
I’m surprised @CBC editors didn’t stop to question whether this report met their standards. It is a thinly veiled commentary column: "What happens the next time a [Saudi] teenage girl or adult woman...declares herself to no longer be a Muslim, does that mean automatic sanctuary?"
I encourage you all to write respectfully to the @CBC ombudsperson if you find the anti-Rahaf/anti exMuslim reporting by Ms. Nasser objectionable on ethical grounds. I find that it sought arbitrary commentary & speculated carelessly for a hard news report. ombudsman.cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/contact-us/
