We have only 11 years to stop emissions altogether, or we will face human extinction in our lifetimes. This monumental task cannot be done without forcing corporate polluters to comply with an aggressive policy and banning new fossil fuel infrastructure.

The "Clean Energy Jobs" bill being proposed in Salem would not only exempt the biggest polluters in our state, but perpetuate existing environmental injustice.
"Clean Energy Jobs" will do nothing to stop the Jordan Cove pipeline. Based on results of similar cap-and-trade plans since 2005, it won't even meaningfully impact emissions. Worse still, its passage would likely prevent real legislative progress on climate change in our state.
Market-based solutions actually maintain the root cause of climate change: the exploitation of people and planet to create profit for the few. As long as we have a capitalist economy, policymakers will continue this pursuit of endless growth—even to the extinction of our species.
What must we do instead? We'll summarize the first step in just 3 words: STOP JORDAN COVE. A new pipeline through our state isn't just dangerous to local communities, but pushes us all further toward the brink. Come to Salem TODAY at 4PM to tell legislators we won't stand for it. 
Second, the legislature must take BOLD action. The bare minimum: a moratorium on new fossil fuel infrastructure, a “green” bank, municipal ownership of utilities, and a real jobs program to build the renewable infrastructure needed to get us off fossil fuels as fast as possible.
