Gombe State's @HEDankwambo employed 32 y.o John Okon to work in the Gov's residence in Kaduna. 8 Nov 2018, 4 TV sets were stolen from the premises. @PoliceNG arrested Mr. Okon & 4 othrs 9 Nov. 5 days later, they'd tortured him to death. This is his story

Mr. Okon's wife, Joy, was very pregnant. They lived together within the premises of the Governor’s private residence located along Pola Road, off Swimming Pool Road, in Kaduna. The pemises had 2 uniformed @PoliceNG guards & 2 other guards from a private security provider
On 8 Nov, 4 theatre TV Cinemas were discovered missing from the premises. There were only 3 ways to explain this: the burglars by-passed the guards or overpowered them or, alternatively, the guards did it. On 8 Nov, however, the police arrested the 4 guards & Mr. Okon
Of the ppl arrested, Mr. Okon was different because he wasn't security personnel & came from a different place. Over the next 5 days, @policeNG beat him, deprived him of both food & sleep & incapacitated him in the legs. He told his wife they'd kill him

The case was initially reported to the Kabala Coustain Police Station in Kaduna from where it was transferred to the State @PoliceNG Anti-Crime Dept at Gabasawa, where 4 officers allegedly took turns to clobber & torture Mr. Okon
Beaten in front of his wife, neither @HEDankwambo nor @PoliceNG thought it fit to afford Mr. Okon access to lawyer, medical assistance or family. 1 day after being detained, by 10 Nov, he'd lost use of his legs. Lawyers who visited to see him on 11 Nov, were denied access.
When the lawyers returned around 10:30 hrs on 12 Nov, they discovered a detainee (later confirmed to be Mr. Okon) who had just gone into coma at the station. Meanwhile, @PoliceNG personnel at the station stalled them. After nearly 7 hrs, they left the station about 17:00 hrs
On 13 Nov, after enduring 5 days of brutal, inhuman torture that no human shd suffer, Mr. Okon's body gave up. @PoliceNG quietly took his remains to the mortuary of Barau Diko General Hospital in Kaduna & dumped it there. Neither his family nor his lawyers were informed.
Meanwhile, neither @PoliceNG nor @HEDankwambo informed Mrs Okon or Mr. Okon's lawyers who had made regular contact with them until over 48 hrs later on 15 Nov when, no longer able to stall or lie, @PoliceNG perfunctorily told the lawyers where the body was dumped
With the assistance of her pastor & church, Mrs. Joy Okon has lodged a petition with @NhrcTweets over the killing of her husband. The Commission began hearing her petition at the Ceremonial Hall of the FCT High Court in in Abuja ystrday & wll conclude it 2mrw, 16 Jan 2018.
At these hearings, @PoliceNG has so far made a poor spectacle of itself, blaming an innocent dead man for dying under the weigh of torture that no person shd endure. Meanwhile, the autopsy shows most organs in Mr. Okon's body were ruptured or broken or both ruptured & broken
In all this, none of 4 security men, include the 2 @PoliceNG officers on the premises who were arrested with Mr. Okon were touched. They all left the station without any strand of hair missing from their bodies. Yet, Mr. Okon is no more
John Okon died a death no one shd: away from family, knowing he was going to be killed, unable to do anything about it & unable to get any assistance to stop it. No one shd suffer what he did. For his memory & the sake of his family, Joy, Mr. Okon deserves justice.
