Whenever anyone says “i wish them well”—of a competitor or a former colleague

They are lying. They trade truth for deniability disguised as phony civility

What they wish is total... told-you-so-failure somewhere between imminent destruction and slow torturous painful demise.
Case in point

Show me counter examples please
Of COURSE you can wish a competitor well and of COURSE you can wish a former colleague to succeed.

And there are many words and actions to convey it honestly

But everytime those words “I wish them well” are used in PR or post—it is not true.

Like “spending time with family”

1/ Some computers––(including by loose analogy our own minds + metacognition)––cant compute beyond constraints of the system or layer they were intended to compute w/o glitching.

Just as people of Flatland can't percieve 3D space
Or David Foster Wallace's fish can't grok water
2/ As it relates to that RECURSIVE hole of thinking about thinking about thinking––there is VERY interesting science on pros + cons of self-reflection.

I believe meditation works in reducing anxiety etc NOT b/c it pulls you deeper into yourself but b/c it pulls you up––SHALLOWER

Friend contacted me. His relative was kidnapped in Syria.

Kidnappers want money. They used victim's phone (@Samsung S8) to contact family.

Victim has no Samsung account but I've phone &IMEI numbers.

How to track location phone? (ONLY serious advice)
2/ My DM's are open for serious advice. Please only reach out if u have some advanced knowledge of how to track a @Samsung phone.

For security reasons, I won't reveal at this stage details regarding kidnapped person & his family. Also can't say where exactly he has kidnapped.
3/ All IMEI tracker apps don't seem to be working. So please don't just send me another link unless u know for sure it works.

Also some suggest we should contact the mobile operator. But it's a Syrian SIM card so it is complicated.

Please don’t study these things if your goal is to futureproof your career.

Yes, they are all shifts in thinking (graphql takes us back to soap, for example, just with json this time instead of XML).

But in tech there are CONSTANT shifts in thinking. These aren’t special.
Now if you can get to a place where you see the shifts more generally, that might be useful.

But you can build super cool & useful things even if you don’t. Even if you just go deep on what you know now, you can have a long, fulfilling, remunerative career.
p.s. The tech skills themselves are the least important thing long term.

I know they seem like everything when you’re starting out, but the more you’re here, the more you’ll see that the main career-limiter for most developers is communication skills.

My date followed up by asking, “If your boyfriend asked you to cook for him, would you?” I grinned, as I realised my date was sadly playing from a script. I replied, “I don’t have a guy I like who’s asking me to cook, so I can’t say.”
I think my date thought I was being coy. But, I wasn’t. I was just being honest. A while ago, I decided to deal in reality and not hypotheticals. I have tried and failed to control life. All my effort got me was an anxiety problem and therapy.

In the midst of the tests and various medical consultations, it occurred to me that my life had stopped. My symptoms limited my movements and where I could go. So, I couldn't plan and I couldn't project forward.
Things like traveling or dating went out of the window. I was stuck on finding a solution to my health challenge. My tests are still ongoing. I'm still seeing doctors, but we think we now know what's wrong. And so, I am hopeful.

There is so much ugliness in the world. The #Hivites are not only working as hard as they can to create as much chaos & negativity in the world as possible, they are also contributing to that swell of negativity with their own DREAD & HATE. I refuse to contribute to that feeling.
