Today at 11am, Supt. Johnson will join #RogersPark residents, Aldermen and @ChicagosMayor to announce the latest deployment of nearly 100 new police officers to Districts across the city. Press briefing @ChicagoCAPS24
In addition to new police officers here in #RogersPark, @ChicagosMayor announces this district will get a Strategic Decision Support Center - a tech-based situation room - staffed 24/7 with officers and crime analysts to help push critical data to police officers to fight crime.

Police Involved Shooting - 2100 S. KEELER. Offender shot by police following an altercation. PIO responding and details to follow.
Update: officers attempted to stop a car during a traffic stop when the car fled and ultimately crashed. Armed individuals exited the car and got into a confrontation with officers when an adult male was shot by poloce. He was transported to area hospitals and weapons recovered.
Final preliminary statement from #ChicagoPolice on officer involved shooting. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is now conducting their independent use of force investigation into the incident. @ChicagoCOPA

UPDATE: We continue to seek any available evidence/video to identify possible offenders in this case. Anyone who may hv been in area of 300 E North Water St btwn 1-3a should send info to cpdtip.com. Thus far we have not found anything to be able put out a description
CASE UPDATE: Tonight #ChicagoPolice detectives expanded the search area for cameras to be able to provide photos of the alleged assailants in this attack. Thus far, no video of the alleged assailants or a vehicle has been discovered but we are continuing to broaden our search

BREAKING from Piedras Negras: After almost two weeks, people are growing desperate inside.

They’re given almost no info about the asylum process, & groups like ours haven’t but let in.

Today, some tried to leave to get lunch, but were told they couldn’t.

Then this.
Normally those with humanitarian visas can go & get food.

They’re still not being allowed to present at the border, but that little bit of freedom helped.

Today, even those w/them were told they couldn’t leave.
We’ve heard disturbing reports from many that some police officers are ripping up visas of those on the outside.

They’re forced to come back to shelter & repeat the process, but they’re getting scared.

“Que sirven?” they’re asking. What good are they?

There's a graphic video circulating of Portland Police rushing into a homeless shelter and killing a suspected car-jacking suspect. It stirs emotions, so I'll post at the end of the thread.

First, as a community, I want to think rationally about what's happening in our city:
What we're witnessing in Portland today is WARFARE within our own boundaries between the dominant class (white, housed, affluent) and those who are not.

Our militarized police an occupying force less interested in "public safety" than in maintaining order and control.
Portland Police too often serve as judge, jury and -as witnessed last night- executioner: they KILLED someone they weren't sure was criminal or even carrying a weapon w/ ZERO deescalation, firing into a room of homeless people seeking shelter.

We KNOW they will go unpunished.
