Thousands of lives were lost in The Troubles: British Lives. Irish Lives. Unionist lives. Nationalist lives.The people of Northern Ireland paid the highest price for the peace that the Good Friday Agreement created.

This was at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.
I rang my friend over in Northern Ireland before tweeting this, because I know that many people on the other side of the Irish Sea do not see things the way the person in my video describes them AT ALL. I am sorry for that. This video is aimed at a specifically British audience.
In the past 48 hours I've presented two completely opposing sides of the issues in Northern Ireland and been thoroughly and passionately criticised for both.
Which proves the obvious point: The current arrangements maintain a delicate balance that we shouldn't be messing with.

Britain is responsible for centuries of bloodshed on the Irish island, which was only ended by the Good Friday Agreement creating a delicate balance between Northern Ireland's attachment to the UK & Ireland.

Both Brexit options skew that balance. A GOOD Britain wouldn't do that.
So... when I point out that in light of our colonial treatment of our Irish neighbours since the 1500's, I'd like for the country I love to avoid tarnishing its moral reputation further by not trashing the very thing put in place to make amends, I get this

There's a sense the significance of the conflict in Northern Ireland & the importance of protecting the peace has been lost in #Brexit drama.

So the #BrexitBorderlands project set out to chronicle the Troubles in a new way - interactive data visualisaiton.

It's common currency now in the Tory Party from the Prime Minister down to say that a customs border in the Irish Sea is unacceptable. In Theresa May's words, it is something no British Prime Minister would ever agree. It would say that NI is not an integral part of the UK (3/25)

There is no better Brexit when it comes to the Good Friday Agreement and Northern Ireland. As you still seem bamboozled by all this Paddywackery here’s a few pointers for your next stab in the dark -
1. Northern Ireland is made up of a majority of Unionists (as in the Conservative and Unionist Party) and, believe it or not, a rather large minority of Nationalists (as in Irish Nationalists)
2. These Irish Nationalists don’t see themselves as British but rather inconveniently as Irish (who knew?)

During my research into Establishment CSA, it has often struck me how many paedophiles and close friends of paedophiles have had political links to Northern Ireland, either as ministers, spokespersons or SPADs.

Northern Ireland is a tipping point for Brexit. Even my more Brextremist family members have started to say "Whoa. Hold on there old chap. We liked this idea but not enough to screw that whole Ireland thing up again".

And that from the least pragmatic Brexiters I know.
Over the last month its become a palpable problem. First the weird technology that the more buffon supporters jumped on, but the older family members frowned at. Then the hoey intervention that the GFA wasnt sustainable and now Boris Borders.

The whole thing scares the horses
Northern Ireland is forcing critical evaluation for the first time by Brexiters with strong opinions.

Europe. Far away, full of bureaucrats. Economy, £ fall too disconnected.

But NI? Anyone willing to piss that away without thinking has lost credibility and become a cultist.
