Yep, it's true. The entire national security desk at BuzzFeed News has been disbanded.
It wasn't around for long, but for a year and a half we punched way, way above our weight and I'm fiercely proud of the work we did here under @markseibel.

There's so many reporters covering the intersection of national security and terrorism, but very few understand it - and @mitchprothero is one of the very few. Hire him before someone else does.
Do you know how hard it is to not only break stories about cybersecurity but also make them intelligible for regular humans?!

Having now been @HannahAllam’s colleague at two different places, she continues to be one of my biggest role models in journalism with every story she writes.
And I was laid off today too, which still feels a little surreal, but hey.
It's been incredible to get to cover a pretty broad natsec beat, from the Pentagon to immigration, with time and resources I never had before. I'll miss this place.
