X : Does Amazon use your form of maps?
Me : No. I am reliably informed that Amazon doesn't use my form of maps bar a few individuals that may use it in their areas. They have their own mechanism for creating awareness of the environment.
X : Does Netflix use your form of maps?
Me : No. I am reliably informed that they don't use my form of maps bar a few individuals.
X : Google?
Me : Ditto.
X : Microsoft?
Me : Ditto.
X : Who does use it?
Me : It's here and there. I don't keep a list.
X : But what about case studies?
Me : I don't do case studies. I only want people using maps because they find it useful. I'm not interested in people using maps because "this other company uses maps".
X : But case studies will help with adoption.
Me : It's spreading fast enough for me. Changing management practice and communication mechanisms is a slow game. You don't want to rush it.
... if there were going to be case studies then my only interest is in where mapping fails. That's the only place I'm going to learn.
X : Case studies aren't for you, they're for others to help them adopt it.
Me : Then they should write them.
X : This is not how to build a big consultancy around mapping.
Me : I'm not interested in building a big consultancy. I'm interested in being happy. Writing case studies doesn't do that for me.
X : What if others build consultancies and tools around mapping?
Me : Good for them.
... I'm very simple, I do what makes me happy until it doesn't make me happy and then I do something else. I find contentment in simple things. I can lead and build businesses but I don't find happiness in doing so hence I'm about as reluctant as you can get.
X : But you're leading the mapping community?
Me : Very minimally. My goal there is to establish many other leaders of the mapping community. That's already happening.
