Update:

After vilifying immigrants and the press all morning in his routine disinformation, Trump comes around to tweeting out an #HMD2019 acknowledgement in the afternoon.

According to the report, the Russian-born lobbyist (Rinat Akhmetshin) received a large suspicious payments from Denis Katsyv, Veselnitskaya's client and the owner of Prevezon Holdings.

Considering how much of the Trump Tower meeting circled around the Prevezon-related matters, that could account for the belligerent replies from Veseltnitskaya and Akhmetshin.

The DOJ released this statement this morning about #MDCBrooklyn, now saying that heat, power and hot water were restored last night at 6:30 pm.
A few notes:

* This statement flatly contradicts the one by MDC warden’s spox in the Times denying those outages.

* It’s corroborated by tweets/footage of lights going on inside the jail around that time last night.

* More info likely to come out at court hearing tomorrow.

Green Party parliamentary leader Katharina Schulze continued to lambast AfD after the event. Katharina once said, "Do not be afraid that old white men will forfeit our future because they can't cope with diversity."

Incidentally, Katharina has been a stalwart in the fight against anti-Semitism - one of Germany's most outspoken activists. She was also expedited to the top rank of her party in just two years. Coincidence or cohencidence?

A thread on Owen Jones. I know, tedious, but I feel we're moving so fast onto the next deflection now that important stuff is being forgotten in the wreckage. Jones positions himself as an ally in the fight against anti-semitism, but nobody should take him seriously ever again.
I'm going to pick out a couple of points from this article he wrote last year. On its own, it seems perfectly sensible. The reality, though, is that when it comes to the crunch Jones just doesn't abide by a lot of it if it might harm Corbyn's prospects: medium.com/@OwenJones84/a…

I am shocked reading Jonathan Arkush’s article. Jeremy Corbyn is not anti- Semitic, he does not hold anti- Semitic views. The examples Arkush uses do not evidence that he does. I cannot understand what Arkush is trying to achieve here but I know it isn’t about being constructive
There is a real problem to be dealt with, in the Labour Party and in society and, I must have said this a thousand times, accusations like he has made create hysteria that distract from the facts and the real fight against anti-semitism
Jonathan Arkush has never spoken for me, for many other young, progressive Jews, and he doesn’t in this article

1/ Another conviction under section 127 of Communications Act 2003 which I'm afraid to say (because I am 'grossly offended' by what she sang) is a major threat to free speech and should be repealed. This conviction will not help the fight against anti-Semitism in the long run.
2/ My thoughts on the "Nazi saluting pug' case apply here equally so I will reshare that thread
3/ On this case, I think Holocaust denial is a huge threat to accurate history and is also anti-Semitic. But the way to fight it isn't through criminal sanctions, it's to challenge the ideas themselves. By criminalising these idiots we just make free speech martyrs of them
