@AnselLindner (1/11) Hi! I'm Nik, an engineering manager at Ripple. I've been working on XRP Ledger going on 6 years and, along with my teammates, I've contribute to the XRP Ledger codebase. Let's address your tweet point by point.

Ready?
Set.
Go!
@AnselLindner (2/11) Academic research is an interesting topic. We've published several papers which describe the algorithm we use, and provide a mathematic framework to analyze it. We welcome academic review. @XRPTrump already linked one of them.
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump (3/11) We also welcome academic research and not just on XRP Ledger but in the #blockchain space more broadly. It's why I proposed that @Ripple start what eventually became known as the University Blockchain Research Initiative.
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (4/11) The UBRI has already given millions to further research and is supporting Universities and students around the world. Find out more by visiting ubri.ripple.com and, if you are in academia, engage with us!
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (5/11) You suggest that we lack many identifiable people in the community. I could go on listing the actual names of many people in the #xrpcommunity, a number of whom I've been lucky to meet in real life and who publicly and prominently identify themselves.
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (6/11) I'm a unsure about what you'd expect these respected cryptographers to discuss. The XRP Ledger uses pretty standard stuff: secp256k1 (the same ECDSA curve as Bitcoin) and Ed25519 and our use is pretty mundane: standard signing.
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (7/11) As a cryptographer myself, I would, of course, be very happy to see promiment cryptographers discussing more about #blockchain, so I'm all in favor of a mailing list. Are you volunteering to start one? Let me know, because I'd love to join!
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (8/11) Community debates over updates are great. The XRP Ledger features an on-ledger voting mechanism allowing the participants in the network to vote about which updates they want and which they don't. Read more about it here: developers.ripple.com/amendments.html
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (9/11) I agree that more community participation is great. I think I speak for the community when I say that we welcome all the feedback we can get. Allow me to be the first to invite you to join in those conversations and share your perspective with the rest of us.
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (10/11) You then discuss Byzantine fault tolerance. I'm not sure what you're suggesting? If it is the protocol is not robust in the face of Byzantine faults then, to be blunt, you're simply wrong.

I urge you to consider reading the papers that we've published on this topic.
@AnselLindner @XRPTrump @Ripple (11/11) If you've identified issues, please submit corrections (or even write a paper challenging our premises or proving us wrong).

Please know that I welcome your input, @AnselLindner. I want to welcome you to the #xrpcommunity and look forward to your continued participation!
