After watching crazy @LarryEKlayman threaten my close friend @CassandraRules with a defamation lawsuit on tv today

I figured I'd look into his record

First, The DC board on professional responsibility found that he violated professional ethics and recommended a 90-day suspension of his license
Second, @LarryEKlayman looks to be facing new disciplinary proceedings over his conduct in the Bundy case (the 9th circuit case I excerpted above)

Ralph Northam could be a real problem for Democrats

They need him to resign, but he has little incentive to do so

He’s got three years left in his term and no hope of any political career beyond that
Impeachment requires a trial, and 2/3rds of the Senate under Virginia law

Not easy

If Virginia Dems can’t find the votes, Northam could be in a position to make serious demands in exchange for resigning
Apparently he’s not up for the fight

Howard Schultz is totally unacceptable

Not because of his policy views

But because Starbucks serves overpriced garbage coffee to millions of consumers who are being cheated, on a daily basis, out of a decent coffee experience
On the low end, McDonald’s coffee Is both better and cheaper than Starbucks/Peet’s

On the higher end, places like La Colombe, Blue Bottle, and Stumptown make AWESOME coffee that makes Starbucks look like sewer water
90% of Americans drink coffee and most of them are drinking an objectively inferior product without knowing it

And you can thank Howard Schultz for that

Trump is willing to use national emergency powers for regime change but not to secure the border

Today I’m looking back at one of the many 1950s British imprints who rode the post-war pulp publishing boom: Badger Books!
John Spencer and Co was founded in London in 1946 by Samuel Assael and specialised in publishing original fiction, normally written to order by freelance writers using house aliases. Like many pulp publishers they paid a flat rate for copy – ten shillings per 1,000 words.
Initially Spencer focussed on story magazines in digest and pocketbook form: Tales of Tomorrow, Out Of This World and Supernatural Stories focussed on fantasy and sci-fi short stories. But the digest market was beginning to decline as the post-war paperback market began to boom.

I decide to #water my #garden
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my #car and decide it needs washing

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car

I lay my car keys on the #table, put the junk mail in the #garbage can under the table and notice that the can is full

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first

Today is the Punya Thithi of Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose, one of the great Indian scientists of the modern era. One who came up with the concept of radio much before Marconi did. A true polymath, and a selfless genius who gave his all for India.
To call J.C.Bose just a scientist, would however be akin to calling, Leonardo Da Vinci a mere painter, this man was a true polymath, whose genius transcended boundaries.
. What do you say of a man who was a physicist, biologist, and has been named by IEEE as one of the fathers of radio science. A man who was not just a scientist, who discovered that plants too could have feelings, but also wrote science fiction in Bengali.

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation

Today is the Jayanti of Nana Fadnavis, the Maratha Machiavelli, who defeated the British twice with his intelligence and diplomacy. As Prime Minister of the Maratha confederacy, he bought it back to the days of glory after the humiliating rout at Panipat.
Born as Balaji Janardhan Bhanu in Satara district, Nana was his nickname. His grandfather Balaji Bhanu had migrated from the seaside town of Shrivardhan, in the Konkan region, and was a close friend of the first Peshwa Balaji Vishwanath Bhat.
Balaji saved the Peshwa once from the Mughals, and in gratitude, he was conferred the title of Phadnavis. Later when the Peshwas ruled over Pune, he rose among the ranks as the Minister for Finance.

Today is the Jayanti of Swami Shradhananda( as per Thithi though its on Feb 22), one of the great freedom fighters, thinkers, who conducted the first Ghar Wapsi, and was finally assasinated by a Muslim radical.
Shraddhananda's real name was Munshi Ram Vij. It is ironical though, that his early life showed no signs of greatness to come. He was an atheist, got addicted to gambling, drinking, lust.
His father Nanakchand was a top ranking police officer, and that meant the family was constantly on the move. His atheist beliefs were borne out of his own bitter experiences. Munshi Ram,even tried converting to Christianity and Islam, but he soon grew disillusioned.
