A single payer option for health insurance is not "socialist" any more than public education is "socialist."
@FOXNews distorts facts with help from a few on the far left who embrace the term "socialist" because they don't know any better.

Socialism is where government owns major industries not where government provides basic services.
Of course you can incorrectly use the term ":socialist" to describe everything government does. If so, the biggest "socialist" program is the Department of Defense.
If you don't want a single payer health insurance plan or anything else to succeed in America just call it socialist. Then look for some hard left socialists who will agree with you and give them maximum air time.

Faux choice.
Socialism (government ownership of major industries) is for fools.
But only fools think that government shouldn't regulate capitalism and help provide essential public services (public education, health insurance, roads, parks...)

It is high time for the United States to provide an essential public service that is available in every other leading CAPITALIST country: universal health insurance.
Calling regulation of business, Social Security, public education or universal health insurance “socialism” or “democratic socialism” is a stunt worthy only of @FoxNews.
These are ways government can make CAPITALISM more effective, secure and fair and increase the public welfare.

It's time to stop and think.
Talk of abolishing private health insurance is a sure way to lose elections.
An optional single payer plan with sliding scale premiums available to every American is a sure way to win.

If the single payer plan is cheaper, people will choose it. "Cutting out the middle man" is smart, but politicians will LOSE if they talk about abolishing private health insurance plans that some voters like.
Funding high quality public schools and universities does not require abolishing private schools and universities. Same for health insurance. Let people choose. But the single payer public option should be available to every American citizen and at an affordable cost.

Before Obamacare, we, as Americans, had so-called "Free market" healthcare which basically means, (thanks to the insurance lobby and corrupt GOP politicians who take the insurance lobby's money) that the insurance companies got to charge whatever they wanted... 1/2
...and who or who they will not cover.

Before Obamacare, we also had so-called "short term" insurance that would cover you in smaller yearly increments so it ended up being cheaper; It might be 3 years of coverage...it might be 5 years. 1/3

Friends, let me ease your minds about some things you may be worried about. I didn't say anything during the election on purpose. The president was trying to make sure people voted. The house dems are going to try to pass bills that destroy our country. All of them will fail!
Let me explain. They want to pass gun laws to disarm Americans. They want to impeach the president. They want to raise taxes. They want a single payer plan for health insurance. The list goes on. Whether the bills pass the house or not does not matter. They need the senate too!
