Also I don't have a "comfortable life". I actually have a very uncomfortable life. Also, my Jaffa-born father, who was born a refugee, is now (again) a refugee in Malaysia and is suffering from severe PTSD thank you very much.
Please stop using the stories of our trauma, resilience, survival, and success to punctuate your own conversations about our continued alienation and the denial of our historical rights. Regards, a stateless Palestinian *refugee*.

Today @Pontifex has decided to put the weight of his power on the side of dictatorship in the Arab world, by agreeing to partake in the sham in the UAE, a brutal and corrupt dictatorship that is in need of a PR boost. He just supplied it.
@Pontifex We won't be ruled by tyrants forever. These regimes will pass, one way or another. But we - and history - will *never* forget who stood on the side of our liberation, and who put his full weight on the side of dictatorship.

I have, in the past, retweeted problematic people who I don't know. Their tweets showed up on my TL and seemed OK, and without having more context, I retweeted them. But whenever someone later pointed out their problematic history to me, I always went back and undid the retweet.
Having a platform gives you power and with power comes responsibility. If you're using your platform to elevate vile voices, you're doing something vile. If you didn't know, that's fine, but once you know you should correct it.
And yes, I too once thought "hey, if the tweet looks fine, it's OK to retweet it", until I realized how shortsighted that is. When you retweet someone - unless you clearly comment and add you disapproval - you're giving them your visibility and even your legitimacy.

#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

My #MeToo story is the most harrowing account of my life. I was harrased for months continuesly by @i_saurabhkumar of @FinancialXpress in 2016. I had informed FE who hired him any way. Here is my story:
I have spoken of this before and publicly as well but never in such detail. Seeing other women giving detailed accounts has given me the push I needed to to finally show each and everything this fucking vile man did to me.
I am tweeting this anonymously for various reasons which include fear of legal trouble and also just more trauma of people asking questions about it.
