Trump again falsely claims that El Paso was "one of the most dangerous cities in the whole country" before its fencing was built. Though Texas's Republican AG told him this, it's wrong. El Paso had below-average crime for a city its size pre-fence.
Trump says, as always with no evidence, that there are many Democrats who want a wall, and he can tell even though they don't say this out loud. He can see, he says, that "they're just dyin' to say what they want to say."
Trump lies, again, that San Diego was "begging" him to build a wall. Even its Republican mayor is opposed to his wall.
Trump: "You know the old expression: walls work, whether you like it or not."
Trump: "It's very hard to do human trafficking through ports of entry," since border guards say "what's going on in the trunk?" Experts on trafficking say victims are extremely rarely, if ever, brought over in trunks; many cross willingly after being deceived, some on visas.
Trump on Twitter yesterday after watching Lou Dobbs: "Very sadly, Murder cases in Mexico in 2018 rose 33% from 2017, to 33,341."

Trump today: "38,000 people were murdered in Mexico."
Trump repeats his conspiracy theory about Honduras and migrant caravans, for which I've seen no evidence: "They want to not have certain people in their country. So what do they do? They put them in the caravan."
Trump is suddenly sanguine today about the wall. Asked about a national emergency declaration, he says, "We are doing things right now. We're building it with funds that are on hand." (There's funding for a little new fencing.) He adds, "We're doing it regardless."
Trump, pressed again, says there's a good chance he'll have to declare an emergency, but he's building the wall regardless.
Since Trump is doing so many immigration meetings, it would be great if someone could once ask him about @Fahrenthold's reporting about his business employing unauthorized immigrants.
MILESTONE: Trump just lied about the trade deficit with China for the 100th time as president. "We lost $500 billion a year with China for many years," he says, and there has never once been a $500 billion trade deficit with China, and one day I will not tweet about this.
Trump on Pelosi saying his INF move risks a new arms race: "I don't think Nancy has a clue." He adds, "She doesn't have - she doesn't know." And he says, "It's all rhetorical. Not delivered well."
Asked if his Kim summit will be in Da Nang, Trump took another shot at Blumenthal: "Geeee, Da Nang, who does Da Nang remind me of, huh? Certain senator...said he was a war hero..." Blumenthal falsely said he was in Vietnam, never said he was a war hero, never mentioned Da Nang.
