Today is Fritz #Kreisler's birthday, which is as good a time as any to relay this (probably apocryphal) hilarity.

Seriously though, the world could use a few less technically perfect musicians and a few more composer-performer-interpreter-arrangers like Kreisler.
If the poor quality of the early era of audio is too off-putting, might I suggest @PerlmanOfficial, who has a number of recordings of his works? Your mileage may vary, but to me, Perlman captures the warmth and humanity of Kreisler's style so well.
Kreisler was an avid collector of violins.

Also seems apocryphal (not the accident, but the languages), but I am choosing to believe it because of course! #Kreisler

Also, too, #Kreisler punked the the entire music industry. (I think I read somewhere he did this because critics weren't taking him seriously as a composer.)

To violinist, composer, and arranger, you can add pianist. The Ampico (piano roll) label snagged him as an exclusive artist. This roll of him playing his own Caprice Viennois is so good. soundcloud.com/veikko-viljane…
Much more on Fritz #Kreisler the...pianist.
