I just checked this marvelous website/database documenting the world through watercolours before 1900. Highly recommended.
Two wonderful watercolours you can find in this website/database:

Date: 1911
This is a wonderful testimony painted by Swiss artist Louis Ducros who stayed in Rome b/t 1777-1793. Here he depicts the interior of the Colosseum with a religious ceremony taking place, a cleric in the left foreground [published in 1780].

According to a 19th century legend, the Truth and the Lie meet one day.
The Lie says to the Truth: "It's a marvellous day today"!
The Truth looks up to the skies and sighs, for the day was really beautiful.
They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well.

Again, The Lie tells the Truth: "The water is very nice, let's take a bath together!"!
The Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice.
They undress and start bathing.
Suddenly, the Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of the Truth and runs away.

The furious Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find the Lie and to get her clothes back.

The most common form of propaganda is repetition.

This is why the @BBC repeat over and over negative stories about Labour and its Leadership but, have hardly ever said anything about the incredible criminality of the Conservative Party and its Leadership in last 8 years.
Importantly, this also applies to outright #lies.

Mark Twain said "A Lie Can Travel Halfway Around the World While the Truth Is Putting On Its Shoes," and he was right.
But in today's world with instant communication it takes but the utterance of a lie a single time by a institution like the @BBC for a lie to be believed.
