Ok, we need to talk about the car industry. More specifically, about the run-up to the referendum. All the warning signs were there!

1) BMW warned staff in a letter that thousands of jobs could be affected if the UK leaves the EU (March 2016)

2) Nissan stated publicly they wanted the UK to stay in the EU (February 2016): "“Our preference as a business is, of course, that the UK stays within Europe – it makes the most sense for jobs, trade and costs."

3) Internal documents at JLR, leaked in June 2016, indicated the company estimated it would lose up to £1 billion by 2020 if the UK left the EU.

4) JLR publicly backed Remain in June 2016: "Remaining in the EU, our largest market, will increase Jaguar Land Rover’s chances to grow, create jobs and attract investment in future technologies."

So all the signs were there, folks! Clear, unambiguous warnings... just like the clear, unambiguous warnings every single major car manufacturer has been putting out in the last few months about no-deal Brexit.
We've now seen the first consequences with Nissan. How many more investments are we willing to forego, or - heaven forbid - jobs are we willing to lose before the politicians wake up to the REALITY of Brexit. You can't shape reality by wishing, hoping, praying, or patriotism.
The reality of Brexit is that it will be a disaster, and no-deal Brexit a weapons-grade, apocalyptic disaster...
The damage has already started, all over the UK, in industry after industry, sector after sector. And it's spreading fast, even before we've left the EU...
WTO terms won't save us. Only an idiot - or somebody out to deliberately deceive - would suggest they will.
So the politicians should stop and take a deep, deep breath. Stop running around like headless chickens, rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. The hour is late, but we can still turn the ship and avoid the Brexit iceberg, if the will is there.
Because make no mistake about it: the evidence is out there. In the material I've outlined above, and in tens of thousands of other sources. All spell out in black and white exactly how harmful Brexit will be.
So if you ignore that mass of warnings, history will not be kind. The electorate will neither forget, nor forgive. The greatest danger may seem to be walking away from the result of the referendum. The damage that Brexit will wreak will eclipse that, like a supernova vs a match.
Stop. Think. Learn. Apologise to the country. Walk away.

A ton of aspects of driving in the EU will change if there's a no deal Brexit
- need international driving permit
- have to swap your UK license for an EU one before 29 March if you're living in the EU, or face taking your driving test again

- need a GB sticker on your vehicle if your numberplate is a Euro-plate (EU flag + GB sign) unless you replace it with a GB-only numberplate
- need a green card to prove you have motor insurance (may also need separate proof for your trailer)
- can no longer make claims via a UK-based claims representative or MIB after an accident
- must register commercial trailers over 750kg and non-commercial trailers over 3,500kg

Chris Grayling has explicitly blamed the EU for Brexit this morning: "We want to work with the EU to reach a deal but if they are not prepared to do that – they will have to take responsibility that we are heading towards a no-deal exit."
Repeat after me... The UK chose to Brexit. Brexit is not something being imposed on us by the EU. They wanted us to stay. They still want us to stay. They would happily see us stay. Every single consequence of leaving is on us, and only on us.
Brexit is not the fault of the EU. Neither is it the fault of Remainers, businesses, or other convenient scapegoats. Responsibility for Brexit is mainly shouldered by the Tories, first amongst them Theresa May. Labour's super weak opposition means they shouldn't get a free pass.

We need to have a conversation about #OpenSource and equity. Particularly, we need to talk about how "decisions are made by those who show up" should be amended to read "decisions are made by those who CAN AFFORD to show up" and what that means for our industry.
The origins of the Open Source movement are rooted in equity + distribution of power: Rather than large corporations controlling both the product, the tooling, and who gets to work on either, the user has full autonomy to create, contribute, distribute, and maintain everything.
This is built on an underlying assumption that everyone has equal ability and availability to actually take part in the Open Source community. From this stems the idea of open source software/hardware being built by the people who use it. That's no longer true in my opinion.

2/ First, the @AP is a non-profit. It is not trying to meet insane shareholder demands. It is there to continue it's particular, insanely hard and important mission even as the news gets tougher to report and pay for.
3/ What is that mission? Well the AP has reporters and editor and photojournalists and videographers all over the world, and if every part of the country. It is, along with the BBC, one of the biggest most vital news gathering entities out there.

OK. We need to talk again about the phenomenon of being an unaccompanied disabled person in a public place, specifically about the part where strangers feel empowered to come up to me and say "I know what it feels like - hang in there"

There's so much going on. A thread, please.
I'm sitting near - of course not *on*, but near a bench, in front of a restaurant, waiting for friends to join me for dinner shortly.

I always, always dread this - being seen alone in a wheelchair in public. Because I know what's going to happen. Something like tonight will.
This gentleman comes up to me and says "I know you", which tends to happen - being in a wheelchair, I'm often more memorable to passing strangers than they are to me.

By itself, "I know you" isn't bad.

On Sun 13 May @LowTaxChloe appeared on the @MarrShow as a paper reviewer and said that outside of the Customs Union "we can lower tariffs which would reduce the cost of food by an estimated 17%."

As often happens the claim went unchallenged by host @bbcnickrobinson.

That image is a tweet that went viral last week, spurred by the movie's success. I first saw it posted by @ fatherdog, but I don't know if that's where it originated and it's since been deleted. However, the issue is that it racked up over 4000 retweets - and is completely false.
Here are the facts:
-Yes, Jack Kirby created Black Panther, in the pages of Fantastic Four#52-54 in 1966
-But. Black Panther's first solo stories were published in Jungle Action, from 1973
-That series was written by Don McGregor, with art by Rich Bucklin & Billy Graham
