Around 80 per cent of the British catch is exported, with two-thirds of it going to the EU.
Not sure why, but the fact that British people don’t eat British fish - and the EU market is incredibly important - seems to be lost in the Brexit fishing debate.
I wrote a piece about the new post-Brexit non-tariff barriers facing fish exporters, once upon a time.

Also, despite “lowering tariffs means lower consumer prices” having become an accepted truth in the British debate, reality is more complicated.

Consumer benefits of removing tariffs = higher quality goods, but not usually lower prices.

However, when tariffs rise ... well that cost is more likely to get passed through to the consumer.

I am now on annual leave and heading to Japan for two weeks for a belated honeymoon/to investigate JEFTA Geographical Indication compliance on behalf of @alanbeattie.

My Brexit prediction: withdrawal agreement still not resolved by time I get back.
Just landed back in the UK and that was one of the easiest predictions ever.
I am, however, currently in possession of many flavours of Kit Kat.

The replicated UK-Chile FTA will allow for EU inputs to continue to be accounted for as being from the UK for the purpose of meeting the local content requirements (rules of origin) necessary to qualify for the zero tariff treatment.

They get a lot of stick on here, but seriously, nice work @tradegovuk.
There is also a clause allowing for future trilateral cumulation in the event of UK and EU reaching an agreement, and EU deciding it wants to go for it.
