£774,053,350 worth of penalty charge notices have been issued on the Dartford Crossing up until Dec 2018 (11,057,905 PCNs at £70 each). Amount collected may have been less (penalty is halved if paid within 14 days) but it's still a massive hidden tax!

For reference the Dart Charge system was put in place in November 2014. So in just over 4 years, drivers passing through the area clocked up over three quarters of a billion pounds in fines. It's a run-rate of £15.48 million a month in fines!

If that looks confusing: hauliers requested 11,392 permits to be able to keep driving in the EU post-Brexit in a no-deal scenario. The DoT only has 984 to give out. That's not even one per FIRM applying. Over half the companies that requested permits won't get any at all.
Put another way: the industry said "We need 11,392 permits." It's going to get 984. So there's a shortfall of 10,408 permits (91%). And if you think the firms were being over-cautious, think again - over 50,000 UK-registered trucks normally make journeys to the EU and back.

The Department of Transport has axed its contract with Seaborne Freight, the infamous ferry-company-without-ferries due to operate out of Ramsgate, after its backer pulled out. Has Chris Grayling reached peak incompetence? Surely this can't be topped?

Once we've finished laughing, there's a serious point to this. The DoT are claiming no harm no foul because they never handed over any money. But IF the ferries had been needed, the UK now doesn't have access to them. How many other contracts are dependent on delivery?
Because it's going to be cold comfort after Brexit if the Government says "Don't worry, folks. We managed to avoid any financial exposure to all these firms that didn't do what they were supposed to" if what they were supposed to do was critical for the UK's infrastructure.

#SkyPapers explanation of rolling over trade deals after Brexit is shockingly wrong. Third country deals, such as Japan one, won't automatically get rolled over for the UK even under Theresa May's deal. The EU has promised to put in a good word on the UK's behalf, nothing more.
Of the 40+ trade agreements covering over 70 third countries, only the ones with Chile and the Faroe Islands have been successfully renegotiated. And Liam Fox has privately admitted to a business gathering that there is no chance all the rest will be rolled over by Brexit Day.
Why? The reason is simple, and predictable: our counterparts are seeking to extract better conditions from us, rather than passively rolling over the existing terms of the EU's trade deals we share in as EU members.

Strongly suggest @SenateCommerce have ICO Commissioner Elizabeth Denham provide testimony next opportunity. The American public needs to pay more attention and better understand these findings many of which were lost in the marathon of Facebook's obfuscation going back to 2015.

The Steele Dossier was a hastily cobbled together justification for two things:

1) to justify the spying on Trump's campaign team PRIOR to Mike Rogers shutting down NSA SIGINT database mining for Trump Team comms up to April, 2016.
2) to justify RESTARTING intelligence community intercepts of Trump campaign/transition team comms by proffering the dossier to the FISA Court by claiming Trump team members were foreign agents serving Russia.
We don't know exactly when FBI subcontractors began to be used by the DOJ/FBI Hillary/Obama/DNC nexus to mine the NSA SIGINT database for Trump campaign team comms & then to submit Sec. 702 unmasking requests to reveal the names of Trump team members in the intel incercepts.
