Interventions don't work. If you're fine, your kids will average out to be fine

This ideology is civilizational suicide

Let's think through neolib thought: they commonly believe that prosperity and mass education—to them, the things that elevate dull people to greatness—largely didn't exist until the 20th century

So how did we even create people capable of forging the 20th century?

For that matter, if these interventions were supposed to elevate so many people into greatness, why don't we see more great people? If anything, the pace of technological change has slowed; within Western societies, the standard of living is lower than 50 years ago. How?

The neoliberal proposes more and more interventions to increase our human capital: pre-K, ever more college attendance (doubled or more in 40-50 years), $650 million trial runs of better teachers/schools/etc... and nothing. No gains.

Weird.

I was promised we'd be better off.

So we have invested more and more money—truly inconceivable wealth, that we can't get back—into attempting to boost our human capital through these interventions.

Again, no results.

An alien scientist might wonder if there was something wrong with the neoliberal's theory.

At that point, you might consider an alternative hypothesis: that human capital has finite limits in which interventions matter. That the upper bounds of those interventions depends on specific arrangements of alleles within the populations you're applying them to.

And that, by any modern metric, the norms of neoliberal democracy are driving our true human capital lower with each generation.

Well, that would be a scary thought indeed.

To bring it full circle: those of our ruling ideology are convincing you that you should produce fewer of the offspring who might be able to continue what our ancestors have brought us to.

You might not want to listen to them.
