The anime fans have found this and are all, "but it comes out that the Jewish-analogues were actually oppressed too," ignoring the fact that the author literally decided to make Jewish analogues into monsters that eat people, which is pretty ignorant of blood libel tropes.
And that the reveal is that they weren't necessarily brutal oppressors but they were at least equal in power to the Nazi-analogues, did mean shit, and this was vengeance. So, um, spare me your "this is like 2% less bad than you made it sound!"
The irony of people with complete ignorance of the tropes that have been used to villainize Jews throughout history going, "you're not understanding the NUANCE of Jewish allusions in this manga!"
Like, dudes, "we oppressed them because they were dangerous!" is literally Nazi Apologia 101. Educate yourselves, and stop acting like because you enjoyed something, there's no way that it could deploy harmful tropes.
