This is by no means some sort of “too cool for school” bragging thing, but to my knowledge I have really never heard of Ryan Adams and I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any of his songs.

is this like the reverse of the movie yesterday?
Like just now I listened to 5 of his apparently top hits and nothing.

His only songs I know are Taylor Swift covers.

He did 2 hrs with Maron that I must have listened to but (re?)listening to bits now and nada.

What in the name of the Berenstein Bears is this.
I guess what I’m saying is, did you guys all just make up Ryan Adams to punk me because I’m not buying it

What if the immature and unimaginative worldview was the one that instinctively rolled its eyes at the very idea of a world at peace, what then.
What if the reason people create brokenness—within ourselves and without—is because we never even try for peace, having determined to cling to a comfortable fear rather than hope for a dangerous love? What then?
It’s pretty extraordinary to me that the worldview whose best solution to the problem of evil is to hoard wealth hiding behind a high wall with a loaded gun also considers itself the moral, clear-minded and brave one.

Art? Ryan Adams's most notable musical achievement is standing on Taylor Swift's back. His success comes from being white, male, 100% safely generic and getting an occasional boost from being mistaken for Bryan Adams.

I assure you, we can do without him.
You ever notice how people talk about Ryan Adams like he's a big star but no one talks about him like he's an icon? Ryan Adams fans might have a favorite album, critics might talk about how this song compares to that one, but "What's your favorite Ryan Adams song?" isn't a thing.
I don't have to know who in the room is a Prince fan to know that I can ask "What's your favorite Prince song?" and get answers. That's an icon. Ryan Adams... he's just this blaaaaaah shaped hole in the artistic continuum.

Ryan Adams appears to be a shitty person who makes great music. John Lennon beat his wife. Jimmy Page kept a 14 year old girl locked in his closet. Bob Dylan hit his ex wife. Elvis started dating Priscilla when she was 14. Somehow we haven't "cancelled" them or their music.
I'm not condoning or apologizing for his behavior. But let's be honest, if the music is great, we forget the misdeeds of the people who make it. You like the Beatles? Then you like the music of an abuser. And it's ok if you do or don't. Let's just not fall off any high horses.
The music business is full of terrible men who made great art. If you want to cut all that music out of your life because they were terrible men, then go for it. But it's not so easy for some of us. And we're just now really grappling with this problem.

So over the last few months kids keep coming into the library asking if we have any books about this thing FORTNITE. We don't and I'd never heard of it so I tried asking what it was.
Is it a film? No. A cartoon? No. An game, like Pokemon or something? Yeah kinda. Nobody could tell me what all the fuss was about.

Then today a man came in to borrow some Lee Child books and he had his son with him. It said #Fortnite on his T-shirt.
While his Dad looked through our Lee Child books (he was a huge fan so he was re-reading the series) I asked the boy to explain Fortnite to me.

And he did. He told me all about it. He taught me what nobody else had been able to teach me. And now I know two things.
