Germany is a great example for us to follow with a Green New Deal because its solar subsidies helped push the global cost of decarbonization down, even as it helped Germany's economy while reducing emissions by a quarter.
Also, Germany was able to pass its environmental policies without offering huge new entitlements paid for by government deficits, and without transitioning its economy from capitalism to central planning, so perhaps we should think about that...
It's also noteworthy that Germany's decarbonization would have been a lot MORE effective than it was if they hadn't ditched their nuclear plants. Another lesson for us to heed.
