The chemical evolution of life: the sad attempt to answer the question no atheist can.

[Thread]

If you've taken a biology class, you'll know there are things called proteins. They're basically the functional unit of a cell, enacting nearly every biological process it does. /1
Proteins, however, are built from more basic molecules called amino acids (aa). These molecules must be precisely sequenced in a way that allows them to fold into proteins with specific forms and functions. In the simplest cells (Archaea), an average protein is 247 aa long. /2
So what is chemical evolution? It's the claim that if amino acids, an environment fit for life, and enough time are present, proteins would spontaneously form.

Well, then let's look at the probability and see how likely this is to actually happen. /3
We need a protein to form with the right shape to be able to reproduce itself. If it's unable to replicate, it can't stand as a foundational molecule to build on for the formation of more complex structures. Let's assume, generously, such a protein only needs 150 amino acids. /4
We need the right sequence, out of the 20 known aa, to randomly bump into each other and bond (in 3-dimensional space) with the correct aa in sequence 150 times in a row. Otherwise, the protein will not fold into its functional shape. What's the probability this happens? /5
Taking into account the left-handedness of amino acids (chirality) and unfavorable peptide bond conditions in water (more likely to break than bond), the estimated probability for this protein to form is 1 in 10^164 (Meyer, pg 212).

That's 164 zeros.

*a wild atheist appears*
"iDiOt! Everyone knows given enough time, it can happen"

This gets us to the time problem. It actually can't happen. Even if we assume every Planck Second, from the birth of the universe until now, was an attempt to form this 150 aa protein, it's still not enough time. /7
A Planck second is the time it takes for the speed of light (fastest thing) to cross a Planck length (shortest thing). In one second, there are 1.9x10^48 Planck seconds.

In 13.5 billion years (age of the universe) there are 7.9x10^60 Planck Seconds. /8
This means, that even if we assume we have unlimited amino acids, an environment fit for life, and an attempt at this small protein for EVERY PLANCK SECOND SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME, we still barely have 1/3 of the attempts necessary to form ONE useful protein by chance. /9
And this is just a protein. Forget DNA and RNA, with their own unimaginable complexity. There must be some outside force that allowed these ancient proteins to form since we can see the universe is unable to.

"But wait, I thought they did experiments and found it was possible"
"Despite initial optimism following the famous Miller-Urey experiments in 1953, closer investigations have revealed major problems that have not been solved (and perhaps cannot be solved) in both stages of the proposed scenario" - Craig Rusbult, Ph.D.

Its been long discredited.
Yes, there is a gaping hole in the oh-so infallible realm of atheism (well, there are many), and no one has an answer other than "we don't know yet" or an optimistic level of faith past what God even asks of us. /12
So, what does Allah say?
"...or were they the creators [of themselves]? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no certainty" [52:35-36]

Did we construct ourselves? (as in via natural processes)
As seen, no. As also seen, the deniers have no certainty. /13
This numerical impossibility also shows that the Fermi Paradox isn't a paradox at all. The "paradox" is that there are more than enough Earth-like planets for the universe to be teeming with life right now. But there is only silence. As we can now see, this is fully expected. /14
Despite this, the "paradox" lives on, because most people have been indoctrinated by the mirage of atheism, and assume by default that life is a common occurrence in the universe.

Add this improbability to the Cosmological Constants () /15
So the universe is already fine-tuned. You can "escape" that by assuming, via faith, that a multiverse exists. Fine.

But can you escape the fine-tuning required to construct a single protein? Do we have the time? Or do we have life elsewhere to confirm? No. Atheism falls short.
If you benefitted from this at all, follow for future posts similar to this, and retweet to spread the knowledge :^)

JzkAllah khair.
By the way I made a dumb math mistake here 😅 the chance is actually way way slimmer than 1/3.

So the idea is the same, but it’s exponentially smaller. On the order of 10^104 smaller. So basically it’s impossible even with every Planck second of the universe
