I get a lot of requests from people who want help with UX for a product or feature they've built. The intentions are probably good but the requests speak to a few fundamental misunderstandings about UX.
UX is about understanding how the needs of your customers converge with the problems your business is uniquely positioned to solve and then seizing on those opportunities.
Products with great user experiences have a competitive advantage and they've earned that advantage through investing in a deep customer centricity often through rigorous research. They've also probably iterated the shit out of their products and features.
They deserve their advantage. They've earned it and if they continue to invest in it, they'll keep their lead. Hiring humans whose roles are focused on creating meaningful. useful experiences—whether a designer, researcher, content strategist, front-end developer or ...
... a really customer centric product manager, is an investment in the future of your product. You can't magic on UX at the end and neither can I. There's no card trick. It's a lot of hard work. You either do it or you don't. You invest in it, or not.
If you don't invest in it and a competitor is eating your lunch, instead of asking for UX help from a stranger on Twitter or LinkedIn, perhaps you'll reconsider where you're spending your time, money, and effort,
