The Jussie Smollett story is interesting, in a sad way whose particulars are not quite known.
The much bigger, scarier story is the White Supremacist Coastie who planned to slaughter journalists and lefties.

It also is very troubling that the Coastie story only emerged because a journalist happened to find it on PACER (court filings). This is something that the DOD/DOJ/DHS should have been out on front on. Why weren’t they?
The Trump administration doesn’t want to talk about it but a huge portion of the mass killings or near misses of last few years have been carried out by men who espouse a white supremacist and/or explicitly misogynistic ideology, sometimes linked to groups that do too.
Lt Hasson, an acquisitions officer at Coast Guard HQ wrote: “I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth. I think a plague would be most successful but how do I acquire the needed / Spanish flu, botulism, anthrax not sure yet but will find something.”
Also extremely disturbing he was a fan of the Norwegian mass murderer who killed politicians and then went to a summer camp and slaughtered their kids nytimes.com/2019/02/20/us/…
Even if the Coastie couldn’t get his hands on anthrax or worse, he had assembled the means, and had a lifetime of military experience, to cause a huge amount of loss of life and terror.
So, what Jussie did is bad and achingly disappointing. But keep your eye on real threat.

Just checked the Post and the Times to see if there are any new stories on this case. Nope. I really hope that’s for legit journalistic reasons and not because newsrooms are diverting too many resources to Smollett.
Did Hasson have help? Confederates? Were there warning signs that the Coasties or others missed? How was he radicalized? Why no statements from White House or DoD? How was he found out. Had he tried to purchase anthrax or ricin?
This story, from yesterday, says authorities aren’t sure if they can charge him with more than minor gun violations. Now, if this guy had the exact same plans and intent, but was Muslim, would that be the case? Is delisting white supremacy groups from terrorist org the reason?
