To understand why people say Kubernetes is not for developers get your hands on just about any fully managed Serverless compute platform.
The first thing you'll notice is what you don't have to do. You don't have to setup clusters, VPCs, SSL certificates, or DNS before deploying an application and hitting it with a browser a few seconds later.
While Serverless compute platforms are often associated with event driven functions I'm glad the industry did not stop there. Containers are now supported by most Serverless platforms and that means more developers will benefit.
I'm sure you're thinking this Serverless thing is just PaaS all over again and from the compute prospective you're largely right. But once you add fully managed databases, object stores, and the ability to enable new functionality with a single API call, the difference is clear.
