I think the bigger difference is after the 2008 primary Dems won the general election.
A few other points, several from responses to me:
Hillary went in to Obama’s cabinet
Hillary delegates at the convention didn’t boo Hillary as she declared support for Obama. (iirc she nominated him)
In 2008 the runner up was a Dem.
More Hillary=>McCain than Bernie=>Trump...
(Former was mostly realignment of white Southerners & Appalachia), but in 2008 no third party bleed-off; nobody voting for someone other than Obama who strongly favored him over McCain.
2008:No Twitter, no Russians
2016:Twitter, Russians
2008 has more discussion about specific...
...policy disputes than did 2016, which was mostly broad statements about insisting on sweeping change vs accepting opportunities for incremental change
2008 Dem attacks on Obama weren’t roughly the same ones used by McCain, but Bernie’s were by Trump
Clinton didn’t allege...
...conspiracy of Obama & DNC to rig nomination (even though they were aggressive in DNC fight RE FL/MI), while there’s widespread (& wrong) conspiracy theory abou 2016 nomination, about which Bernie has sent done mixed signals)

Those are some big differences

When I worked in Congress, first 6 months we aided numerous immigration cases, incl int’l adoptions, got a solder out of trouble for going AWOL to be at custody hearing to get her kid, helped another donate a kidney to his mom, & got a dog from Iraq for family of a fallen soldier
Constituent services is part of the job of being in Congress. It’s unlikely it gets many if any votes. But you do it. It can have a profound effect on the life of a person, a family, a neighborhood if you do good constituent service. It can have a profound effect if you don’t.
If you’re looking for an excuse for not having a district operation up & running & helping constituents in early January, stop. It’s an insult to the people of any congressional district to suggest their member of Congress shouldn’t focus on serving their needs.

This country has not started answering questions like:

Are laws signed by an asset of a foreign adversary legitimate? Do we abrogate those laws?

What do we do about judges & other officials, appointed to long or even lifetime positions, by an asset of a foreign adversary?
Why did a Repub-only contingent of US Senators travel to Russia last year?

Why did Paul Ryan tell Kevin McCarthy to not talk about Trump being paid by Russia?

What do other countries’ intel agencies know RE Trump that congress doesn’t?

Has Trump revealed codes/specs to Putin?
Why was one of Trump’s first acts upon entering the WH to fire the WH cyber security staff?

Who else in our gov’t and national leadership is compromised by Russians or allied foreign powers?

Has Trump been given info to compromise other political actors?

Comments like this are useless. It’s like “raise the minimum wage to round figure of $X” w/out explaining what would be too high; if not, then why not $X+1,000?

A. Process for closing was horrible
B. Some of those schools shouldn’t have closed
C. This one probably should have…
…Stewart school once had about 1,300 students. It was down to 250 (it was K-8). A school a 1/2 mile away had a similar population decline. Stewart had no AC, and needed massive repairs. And the neighborhood around it wasn’t so much working class as it was hipster…
…the population was about half non-hispanic white, clustered from 20-50, mostly single without kids. Stewart was mostly black, but that’s in part because the population of 5-17 was almost entirely black, and the 5-17 pop was lower than almost every other Chicago neighborhood…
