Entendendo Past Perfect

Um thread sobre outro tempo perfect, desta vez, o Past Perfect!, vamos lá?
1 – Past Perfect Simple – SUJEITO + HAD + VERBO NO PARTICIPIO PASSADO

Usamos o PPS para falar de uma ação no passado que aconteceu antes de outra – também no passado – acontecer. Exemplo:
- The game had started before we arrived at the stadium!
- O jogo havia começado antes de nós termos chegado ao estádio!

O que aconteceu antes? O início do jogo, logo, ele que vai pro Past Perfect Simple!
2 – Past Perfect Continuous – SUJEITO + HAD + BEEN + VERBO NO ING

Usamos o PPC para falar de uma ação que estava em andamento no passado quando outra, também no passado, aconteceu ou a interrompeu:
- Wilbour had been studying all morning when his girlfriend called!
- Wilbour estivera estudando a manhã inteira quando sua namorada ligou.

Qual atividade estava em andamento antes? O estudo do Wilbour, logo, é ele que fica no Past Perfect Continuous.
