White liberals are significantly more likely than Blacks, Hispanics, and non-liberal Whites to say that ethnic/racial diversity makes the US a 'better place to live'. And Blks (p=0.005) and Hisps (p < 0.001) are sig. more likely than White libs to say 'worse place to live' (lol)
Interesting: White liberals also perceive significantly greater voter suppression than do blacks and hispanics
White liberals also rate immigrants significantly more warmly than every other demographic
Some people are upset that I didn't show the ideological spread for blacks and hispanics. So here you have it...

2/n Results hardly change when limited to White respondents

43% of Democrats vs. 70% of Republicans think that people "should be allowed to express unpopular opinions in public, even those that are deeply offensive". Strikingly, a similar proportion of Democrats support speech restrictions (39%).
By far the most supportive of speech restrictions are--wait for it--white liberals and democrats in the 18-29 age category.

I have some modicum of self-restraint, so I've avoided this A+ bait @jamesnewburg sent my way. I do have a few quick thoughts, though.

First off, this could all be very real and that'd be exciting. Some Whites becoming more racially liberal is a good thing.
@jamesnewburg First off, it is neither necessary nor convincing to say that White liberals are more racially progressive than Blacks, particularly if your only evidence is response to racial resentment questions. Also, be sure to read Kam and Burgess (2017) journals.uchicago.edu/doi/pdfplus/10…
Are White liberals, for example, more supportive of policies like reparations than Blacks? What about affirmative action and other explicit racial programs? What about various economic policies that are implicitly racialized?

2/ The U.K. has the least unfavourable view of Muslims of any European country polled by Pew.
3/ The U.K. is consistently more comfortable with interracial relationships than most european countries.

Today, I work for @Tennessean in Nashville, but I wrote this series as an investigative reporter at @MyDesert, a badass little newspaper in the Coachella Valley. It is home to some of the hungriest young journalists in Southern California.
My reporting began, as it often does, with a court filing. Cesar Garcia filed a lawsuit saying Coachella City Hall was blackmailing him for $31K. He owned a grocery store in the desert pit stop of Blythe. His wife ran a daycare. They were hard working; comfortable but not rich.
