This is exactly what happened with Gilad Atzmon when Williamson signed a petition and tweeted his support for a prominent antisemite. He was found out, people expressed outrage, out came a mealy mouthed apology. No further consequence. Labour simply isn’t credible if this is it
No institution which took anti racism seriously would permit someone to travel around the country making out that the institution is the real victim - which is what he was really saying and why people clapped him on.
The real test as to whether Williamson’s apology is enough is whether you can imagine him saying it in an interview and off-the-cuff. And the answer is of course he wouldn’t, because these aren’t his words and it’s not what he thinks. See also Corbyn’s articles vs his interviews
