1/ For those who think the appointment of a black party planner to a job at HUD proves Trump isn’t racist (apparently the argument the GOP was going with today), a few thoughts...
2/ Um, first... doesn’t it strike u as odd that the black person he appointed to the job had no background in that kind of work? What does that tell you? It tells me that he thinks so little of HUD (Bc it serves dispro poor POC) that he figured anyone will do... that’s racism...
3/ And second, having some black folk to cape for u doesn’t mean u aren’t racist. I’d beg to remind everyone that in 1990 when he ran for U.S. Senate David Duke got the endorsement of James Meredith. Yes, THAT James Meredith...
4/ Even paraded him out on a campaign commercial...and yet Duke is, oddly, still a Nazi. Go figure...

1/ It's hilarious when white folks respond to discussions about reparations or even affirmative action with things like "I never owned a slave & you (black person) never were one," or something similar, and say, "we should just treat everyone the same." Ok, thought experiment...
2/ Imagine that a few hundred years ago two men started playing cards every Friday night. One man was white, the other black. And imagine that the white man cheated the black man consistently: applied rules differently, dealt off the bottom of the deck, hid cards, etc...
3/ But imagine that the black player couldn't quit the game. He had to keep playing, even though he was getting cheated. And when these two men died, they handed the game off to their kids, and the process repeated: white guy cheats the black guy over and over again...

and when anti-Jewish bigots threaten my life or target me or my family, as has happened on this platform, it is ALWAYS right wing white folks, so-called Christians and MAGAts who do it...NEVER Muslims, never "left wing" anti-Semites, never BDS folks or mere Israel critics...

1/ Perhaps the most enraging aspect of the VA blackface scandal is the way some (not all or even most, but some) white liberals are saying things like, "well, I mean, it's the south, and we can't do much better than Ralph Northam in VA..." so we should accept it & move on...
2/ First off, to hell with you. Doug Wilder was better than this in VA and that shit was 30 years ago. Do better white people. Demand better. Second, the comment presumes whites must lead. But why not just back POC and avoid the bullshit of white racism altogether?...
3/ Third, if you think all southern whites are blackface wearing, KKK costume wearing assholes YOU'RE an asshole. Plenty of us who've been in the south all our lives and families go back 350+ years here know better...

First of all, it's fascinating to me just from the standpoint of how even the most absurd propositions can draw wide audiences, when thinking people should be able to dismiss them out of hand. 2/
Second, the fact that we will argue ad inifinitum about subjects that don't deserve a second look is a serious indictment of something - either our inherently American contrariness or the ground-leveling effect social media has. 2/

Listen up kids. So when #Trump wants to replace #SNAP benefits with a box of prepackaged dry goods, it’s not just about #fruits and #veggies. It’s about power, race, ethnicity, labor, energy, disability, and language as well.
2) What people eat and what people are supposed to eat and what people had access to eat has always been informed by power. In ancient times, it may have been the nobility eating meat and wheat bread while peasants ate potages. Nowadays, it’s what people should not eat.
3) Just because people are poor does not mean that they do not have their own food preferences, ideas about food, or habits around food. Folks who use SNAP/#foodstamps will use their benefits, as they are able, to buy the food they can afford within these frameworks.
